“Goals-Objectives-Tactics” Worksheet (Booklet as .pdf) (2022)

If you’re interested in thinking through all the beliefs that might be communicated, this is our current map of potential beliefs about behaviors and behavioral proponents (i.e., scientists).

See also our talk for the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science (a version of ‘the talk’ that lead tot he book) as well as a recent podcast interview for the Center with Dr. Sara Yeo at the University of Utah.

Slides from past talks can also be found on SlideShare.net and various additional videos of John and Anthony are available through YouTube.

One thing to note is that we don’t typically provide guidance on tactical-level communication skills related to writing, speaking, graphic design, media interviewing, or similar activities. Our emphasis is on strategy.

For tactical skills, there are a range of excellent books and trainers out there (and some of these also provide strategy advice, of course). Two of our favorites, and groups with which we have worked in the past, include the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science and  COMPASS Science Communication.
